This article focuses on the need for training of educators to encompass the ethical dimension and professional conduct, so that it can better meet both the expectations and challenges of the Portuguese public education system, namely, Citizenship Education. Currently, it is a goal that essentially emphasizes the transversal and comprehensive dimensions of the various aspects of school, thereby having clear responsibilities that fall on all educators. Thus, firstly, brief remarks are made about the necessity and legitimacy of an intervention. Then, an analysis is made of what has been done at this level inthe Portuguese context. Finally, we present an outline of a proposed intervention, which is sensitive to the civic and moral components of citizenship. This proposal is built on a maximalist training paradigm, which includes a training that addresses the following items: general elements, pedagogical relationship and personnel maturation of the teacher.Downloads
