Abstract

This paper aims to analyse the constructivism theoretical contribution to learning processes and establish the links between these theoretical concepts and teaching practice in higher education. This discussion becomes relevant in the context of the actual practices of universities. It questions how we learn and how we teach.. Thus, the paper discusses the contributions of the cognitive flexibility theory of R. Spiro. Based on this theory we discuss various teaching strategies as offering the potential for shared construction of meanings in contexts of complexity.
