Abstract

This paper brings a tropical environment and its peculiarities, followed by some examples of events related to the amount of rain in the Brazilian territory. It shows some catastrophic happenings of inundation that occurred in Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and in mountainous Iands, besides of showing risks of desertification in the semiarid zone.
