Abstract

The aim in the paper is characterize the situations of risk related to floods in the basin Proença, taking into account the relationship between the fragile terrain and the urban developing process in Campinas (SP), Brazil. The correlations between the morphometrics rate found in this study enabled the identification of potential fragile areas in the basin in such a way that, the association with urban management models used by local government, where the intervention of roads are given more attention in order to favor real state speculation rather than to the morphometrics characteristic of the natural area, showed the risk situation in the basin Proença, in this case, the risk of floods.
