Abstract

Part of the lower plain of the Rio dos Sinos (RS-Brazil) presents a high density of urban-industrial occupancy in natural-flooding areas. To prevent this phenomenon, retention and drainage works were executed. The aim of this study is to analyze the risk factors associated with the state of the installed part of the project of the Rio dos Sinos Valley Flood Control System. The natural phenomenon was problematized at first, then the Control engine was considered, and by means of reports and field observations the risks were evaluated.
