There is a relationship between the phases of the NAO and the manifestations of climatic risk recorded in the winter of 1050 and 2010 in Coimbra. There were periods with higher quantitative rainfall, higher flow rates and higher monthly occurrence of floods, wich corresponded to the negatives phases of NAO. In contrast, during the positives phases there was a lowering of minimum temperatures, more days with temperatures ≤ 0ºC, in Coimbra, and a greater occurrence of cold waves in the case of the Central Region from 1983 and 2009.
