Algeria: a mediterranean region very sensitive to forest fires

As in many other Mediterranean countries, the forested areas in Algeria are subject to a recurrent risk of forest fires that is favored by the extreme flammability of the Mediterranean forest species during the summer. This paper tries to clarify the evolution and the causes of forest fire in Algeria and to give an overview of the efforts undertaken at national level for reduce the forest fire risk.
