The Galinha brothers and the state of the historical research on the “Haas-Galinha” printing press of the General Library

Abstract

This article aims to make known biographical elements about the figures of Manuel Bernardes Galinha and his brothers, all linked to the locksmith trade, in Coimbra. An attempt will be made to clarify their paths, the projects they carried out, some personalities they came across throughout their lives and the contribution they made to the local society. In addition, we will give a detailed account of the avenues of investigation already explored without results, with the objective of preventing future researchers of redoing the same work.
