Phaedrus’ “The fox and the dragon” – the origin of a topos of fiction, or a fable which popularized it?

Starting with the information present in the latin fable “The fox and the dragon”, authored by Phaedrus, and then taking into account other literary sources from the Antiquity relevant to the same subject, this article seeks to explore the potential origins and the popularization of the literary topos in which a dragon guards a treasure.
