Abstract

At a crucial time for humankind, when the preservation of potable water is one of the most important problems across all the regions of the world, this essay reminds us how in Roman times the fountains and rivers were involved in a sacred veil. The aquileges, Roman water-diviners, had the technical knowledge while also being inspired by the gods.
