In the universe of archives, internationally and nationally, the production and conservation of female information is less studied, mainly because its existence is quantitatively lower or because it is not very visible. The present article has as a case study the informational system of Maria do Carmo Barros Leite (1841-1911), Teófilo Braga´s wife, former president of the Portuguese Republic. Through this case of study, it seeks to address issues related to the production and conservation of women's information, through the location and recreation of the information produced by this female figure. In this way, it reflects on the dilemmas that arise during archival treatment of female documentation and what solutions have been adopted by the archival science, both in preventing the elimination of these archives and in its conservation.
