Ten archaeological sites with chronologies dated to the late Roman/ Visigoth period were identified between 1880 and 2003 in the actual territory of the municipality of Cascais. Two of the necropolises found were excavated during 1999 and 2001, located one at Miroiço (Manique) and the other at Alcoitão. At the necropolis of Miroiço 33 graves had been found. Among them, there was an incineration tomb with an archaeological chronology of the early Roman Empire, while the others are dated either from the late Roman Empire and Visigoth period or, maybe, just a few to Islamic times. Otherwise, accordingly to the papers of F. de Paula e Oliveira (1889) and our own excavations of 37 graves of the necropolis of Alcoitão, we were able to define a chronological interval from the late Roman Empire up to the Visigoth period to these graveyards.
