A gestão dos “novos” resíduos da pandemia

O desastre oculto das máscaras de utilização única

Resumo

A crise sanitária suscitada pela pandemia de covid-19 abalou profundamente todas as dimensões da mundividência contemporânea. De entre as particularidades do “novo normal” destaca-se o uso obrigatório ou de máscara de proteção. Num cenário – outrora quimérico – em que milhões de cidadãos saem à rua, todos os dias, com uma máscara sobre o rosto, é urgente pensar a gestão da avalanche de resíduos plásticos resultantes. As máscaras descartáveis, em particular, constituem um dos nossos próximos grandes desafios. A sua adequada gestão é conditio sine qua non da recuperação holística necessária para um futuro sustentado.
