In this article, we present a brief overview of the interconnection of three milestones regarding human rights in Portugal: the integration in the European Community, which took place thirty years ago, in 1986; the Portuguese Constitution, passed in April 1976; the International Convenants on Civil and Political Rights and on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, adopted in 1966.
