Under the growing impact of international trends, particularly in the Anglo-Saxon world since 2004, of consolidation of the inter/transdisciplinary area of Digital Humanities (HD), this new research field has been registering in Portugal and in the Portuguese language, especially since 2010, a progressively broader movement of renewal of the discourses and practices of affirmation and integration of digital methodologies, particularly in the Humanities and Social Sciences. HD has managed to congregate a community of researchers that tends to grow and assert itself (Alves, 2016a & b), although in a global cartography of this new research paradigm, regarding Portuguese-speaking heritage, one can see an inferior performance to that of other traditions and cultures, namely of Anglo-Saxon matrix (Pereira, 2015: 110-140).
Thus, the present article aims to make, through transdisciplinary reference bibliography, a succinct approach to the state of the art of HD in Portugal and in the Portuguese language, in a short-term scope. With this framework and motivation inherent to our participation as researchers responsible for the project “Raul Brandão and inter-generational relations in the Digital Humanities interface”, we also aim to present an experimental study of online digital educational extension, in a perspective of critical-analytical reflection.
