The Madingo formation, of Cretaceous age and mainly composed by multicolored marls with sand intercalations, is described in this paper. These marls constitute part of the resistant substrate founded in the Pointe Noire west area (Congo). Ménard pressuremeter tests are usually used for the geotechnical investigation in this area, although sometimes the limit net pressure is outside of the Menard pressuremeter range and therefore it cannot be determined. A data base, obtained along the last 5 years of pressuremeter works in Pointe Noire, is used to determine the ratio between the net limit pressure and the net creep pressure. Finally, the Pressiorama® defined by Baud and Gambin (2013) is used to classify Madingo marls
