The present paper describes a research consisting in the loading of isolated piles in three different directions, being used a geotechnical centrifuge for the modeling. The tests were performed in a mass of loose sand presenting 30% of relative density. The sand mass was pluviated into a cylindrical container. The tests preparation included three steps: sand pluviation, pile driving and pile loading. The centrifugal acceleration level was 24 g, reproducing a 0.67m diameter steel pipe 6.3m long. The development of vertical displacements, loading, pile deformation, tension in the shaft were monitored. The loading capacity estimated for the various loadings were compared to the experimental results. Differences were found. Underestimation of the bearing capacity in tension was found whereas overestimation was observed in the horizontal bearing capacity. However, both capacities were found in the same range by other researches, due to model uncertainties presented in the analytical methods and imperfections in the model experiments.
