Cap cover slopes of landfills are made up of different geosynthetic and mineral components whose interfaces can be susceptible to sliding. With the aim to redistribute the tangential efforts acting in the system, designers have used high tensile strength geosynthetics over the weaker interface. Besides the redis - tri bution of these efforts, such geosynthetics must present enough resistance in order to prevent the cover soil from sliding throughout the interface. This article presents an experimental study aiming at to investigate the contribution of two new reinforcement geosynthetics in improving the shear strength of interfaces with com - pac ted soil. A nonwoven geotextile was tested for comparison purpose. To reproduce the low normal stresses usual in landfill covers, the modified inclined plane test was used.
