Abstract

The morphological evolution of the northern part of the "Costa de Caparica fossil cliff", between S. Pedro de Trafaria and the IC 20 highway, has been quite notorious during the last few decades and it is related mainly to the increase of human activities in the neighboring areas.

The geomorphologic and geotechnical properties of the cliff materials are presented in this paper and the failure mechanisms of two typical rock fall occurrences are discussed, after some back analysis calculations.
