Abstract

This brief text evokes the creation of GEOTECNIA, the technical journal of the Portuguese Society for Géotechnique, founded in 1971, and honours Úlpio Nascimento and José Folque, who have been responsible for the initiative, as well as for the consolidation of the journal. The role of GEOTECNIA is pointed out as a vehicle of diffusion of geotechnical matters in Portuguese language, with a relevant contribution, since the very beginning, of Brazilian colleagues. Some data is included about the ninety nine issues already published. An analysis of the life of the journal is proposed, and some perspectives for the future are outlined.
