Study of failures in a slope through back analysis of slides

Abstract

This paper describes a case study where the importance of the application of back analysis techniques of slope failures for the assessment of shear strength along the failure surface is emphasized. The success of back analysis depends on the achievement of detailed geothecnical surveys. These surveys must be done mainly to know the geometry of unstable blocks and the forces acting upon Lhe blocks at the failure surface.
