Contribution to geotechnical characterisation of the cretacic sedimentary formation for regional and urban planning. The case of siltitic sandstone complex in Aveiro region

Abstract

ln this paper the results of geotechnical studies are presented, to contribute to the engineering geological mapping for the regional and urban planning of Aveiro region, where the soft rock formations are Cretaceous. The studied formations at surface are weathered to soils, whereas at depth these formations behaviour is in the borderline of rock/soil. One presents their identification, physical and mechanical characteristics which have negative and positive implications for regional and urban planning
