Analysis of geosynthetic reinforced embankments on soft soils

Abstract

Toe behaviour of a reinforced embar1kment on soft ground is studied by a numerical model based on finite elements method. Special emphasis is given to the stress states, the displacements and the stresses in the geosynthetic. The results of the same unreinforced problem is also presented and some conclusions are put forward about the effects of using geosynthetics as structural elements of reinforcement in this kind of problems.
