Geotechnical Characterization of Soft Soils from Leixões Harbour and Vouga Delta Aluvial Deposits

Abstract

A geological survey of the location of soft soils in Portugal is presented, together with a listing of important works on soft soils currently under construction or recently completed. Two practical case studies of geotechnical characterization of soft soils are presented, involving laboratory testing on undisturbed samples of aluvial deposits from the river Leça (Leixões harbour) and the Vouga delta near Aveiro.
