Statistical Study of Sands. Cu and MG Parameters

Abstract

ln this study the Particle Size Distribution test results of 219 samples, coming from two different sources in China, were used. One at the shore of a big river (Zhong Shan) and the other at a sea beach (Zhu Hai) close to the estuary.

Two numerical parameters were used:

- Cu, uniformity coefficient; MG, granulometric modulus.

It was viable to split the two sources and to demonstrate the Cu and MG parameters independence, which recommends the use of both parameters when defining sands.
