A deep excavation for the construction of the underground floors of a building in Oporto is described and analysed. Toe excavation in Oporto residual soils was mainly supported by nailing. With the help of 2D and 3D finite element models, several "a posteriori" analysis were performed. Toe field and analytical results are discussed and compared. Some conclusions are drawn.
