Block nonlinear stability analysis of jointed rock masses

A non-linear model for the calculation of the deformation and of the safety factor for jointed rock masses subjected to selfweight and externa! forces (hydraulic, nayling, prestressing, etc) is presented. The constitutive laws for the joints allow for soil or weathered rock filling and also for surface of contact reduction due to opening of the joints during the loading process.
