Recent advances in the interpretation of the small flat jack method

Abstract

LNEC has been developing lhe small ílat jack (SFJ) method for lhe in situ measurement of the state of stress based on stress relief by opening slots, and also to evaluate the deformability of the rock mass. A new interpretation model for this method was developed, using a 3-D finite element model with isotropic or transverse anisotropic stress-strain behaviour.
