The Seltboring Pressuremeter is placed in the context of field and laboratory tests which are associated to physics and mathematical theories and to empirical correlations for geotechnical design. The basic theory of interpretation of the Selfboring Pressuremeter expansion tests and its aplication to clays and sands is presented.
