The study of a deep excavation supported by an anchored diaphragm wall is presented. The retaining structure has been instrumented to record lateral displacements of the wall as well as the loads carried by the anchors. With the help of a mathematical model based on the finite element method, the excavation was analised, using data related to soil behaviour obtained from «in situ» and laboratory tests. The field and analytical results are compared. Another interesting results of the analysis are discussed.
