Abstract

lt is mentioned the initial hypothesis corresponding to the situation of earth pressure at rest which justify the utilization of the elasticity theory. Jaky's equation is referred and the theoretical basis of earth pressure and forces at rest calculation is discussed both in the case of horizontal or slopped ground surface behind the wall and in the case of the batter or the wall with the vertical being an angle equal or different from zero. lt is also shown the equations allowing the stress and forces calculation.
