A review of the most recent states-of-the-art allows a comprehensive revision of the questions involved in the major problems of liquefaction. Exact and simplified procedures of determining the liquefaction potential are revised. The question of induction and dissipation of pore pressures is dealt with. Criticism is presented concerning the discrepancy between the sophisticated technics used in laboratory tests and the small reliability of the results due to inadequate "representative" samples.
