The variable permeability method in the finite element analysis of seepage

Abstract

The fundamentals of a recently proposed method for the finite element analysis, with constant mesh, of steady unconfined seepage are described. Some results obtained through the use of the method are presented and some procedures that can be used to improve his convergence characteristics are discussed. Reference is made to comparative aspects between the method described and variable mesh methods.
