Large load tests on the alluvial soil of Crestuma dam site

Abstract

The geotechnical survey of the alluvial cohesionless soil of Crestuma dam site included penetration soundings. Based on this work a method that enables the determination of the compressibility below "critica! depth" is applied to the test results.  The compressibilities almost agree with those obtained from large "in situ" load tests subsequently performed.
