Lade and Kim elasto-plastic model

The paper firstly presents the theory of an elasto-plastic constitutive model and the procedure to obtain its parameters using laboratory test results. Following, it is shown that parameters of the Beliche dam materials, estimated by this conventional calibration procedure, were not able to reproduce accurately the observed laboratory behavior. Alternatively, an optimisation algorithm was employed to evaluate the parameters, improving significantly the agreement with laboratory results. Finally, results of the finite element analysis of the Beliche dam construction are presented.
