Suggestions for an approach of the scale effect in rock masses

Abstract

ln  this paper we try  to suggest  some  ways of  research  to solve the scale effect  problem in the determination of some rock mass properties. An idea of "representative sample" is introduced and some considerations about a general philosophy to solve the problem are presented.
