Suggested new methodology for Lugeon test

The Lugeon test finalities, as permeability test, are distinguished from the original simple criterion to limit the depth of curtain grouting.
A new methodology is suggested, carried out in three phases: 1st, to estimate the permeability of rock masses; 2nd, to estimate the permeability alterations resulting from seepage induced by the test itself; 3rd, to estimate the rock mass susceptibility to hydraulic fracturation.
Practical supports are presented in order to select test pressures and to interpret the tests results. Lugeon tests, as a useful complement to rock masses geological-structural study, are justified by the consequent advantages, namely for geotechnical zoning, for delimiting saturation zones and for
designing curtain grouting and drainage systems.
