Engineering Geology and Geotechnics in Mining

Due to fact that their beginnings are related to Civil Works, the fields of Engineering Geology and Geotechnics, that recently have been extensively applied to Mining Engineering, are requiring adjusted methodologies in accordance with the. reality of the extractive industry.
ln order to contribute for the establishment of those methodologies, geotechnical applications to mining in both surface underground operations are described, upon a review of this industry' s environment and most relevant problems.
Essential aspects of Mining Engineering standing and evolution are pointed out, reaching from man power development to the proposition of adequate methods and techniques, as far as geotechnics is concerned. Discussion topics on these problems are proposed.
