Abstract

The Quellenforschung has displayed an important role in the study of the last books of Josephus’ Jewish Antiquities. Because of this, the books seem lacking entailment with the other books of the work, and also without unity in their internal narratives. However, an analysis of the employ of the authorial voice and the narrative structure in books XVIII- XIX allows us to understand that they are in consonance with the proemial programme that characterizes the work as a whole, and also that they constitute an excellent example of moral narrative, as we can see in other works of historiography.
