About the Journal

Objective and scope

RevCEDOUA aims to identify, give visibility to, problematise and especially propose solutions to planning, urbanism and environmental problems of great legal and social relevance. Using different approaches - doctrinal, jurisprudential, comparative and interdisciplinary - it aims to promote the expansion of the frontiers of knowledge and legal, social, cultural and scientific progress.

Target audience

Professionals, researchers and academics who deal with legal instruments in the fields of planning, urbanism and the environment.

Sections

RevCEDOUA is structured into four main sections:

  • Editorial
  • Doctrine (theoretical and practical doctrinal articles)

Description: original doctrinal and/or theoretical-practical texts of approximately 6,000 words, equivalent to 9-10 pages, including spaces and bibliographical references, of a legal or interdisciplinary nature, which reflect advanced research into land-use planning, urban planning and environmental issues, contributing to the identification and proposal of solutions to relevant problems in these areas.

  • Jurisprudence

Description: texts of approximately 3,000 words, equivalent to approximately 4-5 pages including spaces and bibliographical references, which analyse national or international judicial or administrative decisions relevant to land use planning, urban planning and the environment. The analysis should go beyond stating the facts and the legal grounds of the decision, offering a critical reflection on its normative and practical impacts. The commentary is expected to include: (a) contextualisation: introduction of the case and legal framework, (b) legal discussion: identification of the central issue, the controversial issue underlying it and the solution given, with a detailed analysis of the legal arguments used by the courts and their compatibility with current legislation and applicable doctrine, (c) critical appraisal: agreement or disagreement, assessment of the impacts of the decision on the legal system and urban planning and environmental practices, considering precedents and future trends and (d) conclusion: summary of the main points analysed, with reflections or proposals.

  • Reviews (critical appraisals of recent works in a foreign language on the central themes of the journal)

Description: texts of approximately 1,500 words, equivalent to approximately 2-3 pages, including spaces and bibliographical references, on recent monographic works of a legal or interdisciplinary nature, preferably published in a foreign language, and dealing with one or more of the three themes: planning, urbanism or the environment in a broad sense. The review should begin with a physical characterisation of the work, accompanied by a brief description of its essential aspects, and may or may not include a brief biographical note on the author, as well as critical assessments by the author of the review.

  • Dossier

Description: texts dealing with current and sometimes controversial issues, in accessible language and using illustrations.
