Abstract

The article addresses some of the most relevant aspects concerning electromagnetic pollution (electrosmog). The impetus for these initial and brief reflections came with the publication of a resolution by the Portuguese Assembly of the Republic (Resolution 93/2002), which established a Code of Conduct and best practices for the installation of equipment generating electromagnetic fields. The article had already been drafted at the time the legislative act regulating the guiding principles for the installation and siting of electromagnetic field (EMF) generating equipment was published. It was considered useful to present these first reflections on the important legal issues related to "electrosmog," particularly regarding urban and environmental neighbourhood relations.
