One of the most characteristic features of today’s Public Administration is the increasing replacement of administrative acts by consensual instruments in defining the law applicable to specific administrative-legal relationships, particularly in sectors marked by great complexity and conflicting public and private interests, such as urban planning and the environment.
This paper aims to examine the role that contracts can play in achieving environmental objectives, through an analysis of the main characteristics and legal issues raised by environmental agreements in our legal system.
