Abstract

The structure of íntima mente follows not only a phonetic but also a semantic rationale. Words are used for their sound similarities and for their polysemic possibilities.

Thus, the text evolves not only by a method of construction that has to do with the poetic, but above all by a sound organization made up of word games, assonances, consonances or alliterations. It is sound seizing sense.

This method, which searches for the word within the word itself, also leads to traces of narration which, in this case, speak of what is hidden behind language, of what is not always heard, what sometimes emerges from what we think we are.

A loose voice inside its own voice.

All the sounds used in this work are the result of sound manipulations of three parameters: distortion, tone and reverberation of the main voice.

Author Biography

Alfredo Costa Monteiro

Alfredo Costa Monteiro nasceu em 1962 no Porto mas cedo se mudou para França onde estudou escultura em Paris. Vive e trabalha em Barcelona desde 1992, focando-se principalmente na música experimental, improvisada e na poesia visual e sonora. Musicalmente trabalha com o acordeão, gira-discos, electrónica, guitarra e objetos ressonantes para criar peças que alternam entre o silêncio e o ruído mais áspero sempre com atenção detalhada à textura, dinâmica e tensão. As suas criações sonoras, quer compostas quer improvisadas, tendem a partilhar processos instáveis, materiais e gestos em bruto e restrições conceptuais. Com vários discos editados em editoras de todo o mundo, além do trabalho a solo, colabora frequentemente com outros músicos e faz parte de vários grupos de improvisação.

No campo da poesia sonora, trabalha sempre em contextos onde a palavra se torna som e procura uma nova semântica, uma multiplicidade de sentidos. A voz perde o seu sentido literal, redefinindo simultaneamente as condições da sua origem, da sua propagação mas também da compreensão daquele que a ouve. O discurso fragmentado, a linguagem no limite: uma experiência de teste à realidade redefinida por um instinto primitivo, gutural, a partir de poemas originais em português, espanhol e francês.
