Abstract

This paper aims to discuss issues involving the teaching of literature from the use of mobile devices and digital technologies by new generations of readers. To do so, I will first deal with the notion of transmedia storytelling – a recent mode of exploring the relationship between electronic literature and printed literature – through a historical and critical perspective. Secondly, I will discuss the case of the transmedia series Brasiliana Steampunk (2014) as a project that, based on the observation and study of transmedia narratives, is intended as a universe of entertainment that can provide to high school and university teachers a form of engaging their students in reading, researching and learning classic Brazilian literature through fantastic literature in printed novels versions as much as in digital form, from electronic short stories, web comics and audio dramas to other resources produced for the digital environment.
