Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
  • Peer Review Policy: the papers sent to the Editorial Board have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor and editorial board screening and anonymized refereeing by at least two anonymous referees.

Author Guidelines

The Revista Filosófica de Coimbra is a periodical scientific publication in the area of ​​Philosophy, established in the University of Coimbra, Portugal, with a significant international diffusion.

The Philosophical Journal of Coimbra accepts to publish articles in Portuguese, Spanish, English, French or German on philosophical topics or on philosophical relevant issues in various fields of specialization, cultivating the linguistic pluralism of Europe and the diversity of contemporary philosophical expression.

Articles will be submitted, under anonymity, to the appreciation of renowned academics who will function, for this purpose, as independent evaluators.

The articles must be original texts. Translations of the same texts in another language, texts already published in parts of books, or in the form of articles, in other scientific journals, national or foreign, will not be considered.

The articles must be submitted online for evaluation, via the Open Journal Systems platform:

The texts sent must be accompanied by a SUMMARY of up to 100 words, and the respective Keywords, written in three languages: the first one must be English and second Portuguese.

Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and citations should be identified in accordance with the Publication Rules. Articles submitted must include the following author references associated with the author's name:

a) institutional affiliation;

b) sponsoring institutions (if applicable);

c) electronic address;

d) ORCID registration number.

At the end of the document must be included a list of bibliographical references, being mandatory the incorporation of the Electronic Document Identification (DOI) system and its indication in the titles listed.

The evaluators can propose changes to the texts submitted.

Authors will have to correct the typographic proofs corresponding to their articles and the sending of these will be combined later between the author and the Editorial cometee of the Revista Filosófica de Coimbra. Corrections in the paper approved for publication should not be so deep that they alter the expression of thought and the primitive sense of the article.

Authors will be sent Saparatas of the published articles and a copy of the number of the Revista Filosófica de Coimbra, after the edition of the Journal and on a date to be established.
