This text is an exposition of the proem of the Commentary of Thomas Aquinas to the Metaphysics of Aristotle. It follows pari passu the text of the prologue, showing its logic articulation and elucidating some concepts used in it. As an appendix a Portuguese translation of the text is given, its plan and its detail regarding the “what is most intelligible according to intellectual knowledge”, that is, “according to the separation of matter”.
