Abstract

This text presents the thematic dossier “Classical Themes in Ricoeur: Hermeneutics, Religion, Recognition”. The presentation explains the origin of the dossier’s articles in the wake of the VII Ibero‑American Congress on the Thought of Paul Ricoeur, “Ricoeur and the Classics”, and briefly elaborates on the importance of a reflection on the classics in the context of Ricoeur’s hermeneutics, also introducing to each of the contributions. Biblical hermeneutics and the relation between philosophy and religion, the very notion of “classic”, as well as the examination of the topic of recognition are provided as examples of classic themes explored within the context of Ricoeur’s thought.
