In addition to his renowned work in the fields of environmental sciences and international relations, Viriato Soromenho‑Marques is a specialist in the history of political philosophy – and, in particular, in the work of Hannah Arendt.
In this interview, he tells us about the relevance of Arendt’s views on the relations between nature and culture, the politicization of the scientific and technological do mains and the global risks it entails. The interview also addresses the geopolitical transformations of the last years, the recent rise of the far‑right, the spread of digital disinformation and the role that philosophers and intellectuals can play in the fight against these phenomena.
