Revisiting the waves metaphor model (Laughlin et al., 2010), the goal of the present study is to identify and analyze the disputes in which feminism was involved in Portugal during the first decade of the 20th century. «Alma Feminina» – a journal of short circulation (1907-1908), that had Virgínia Quaresma as the main editor – offers evidence about these disputes and presents proposals of feminine emancipation that dialogued and were associated with larger projects for the future e.g. with the 19th century’s utopias.
