Abstract

In this article we tried to cut a group / a set of thoughts about the nature of the philosophy of education (theoretical or pragmatic?), statute (applied philosophy or autonomous?), meaning and place that it occupies in its relationship with pedagogical questions. It was also our intention to refl ect upon some of the aspects of its reality /actuality (the ethical and intercultural speeches), as well as the challenges to which it has to answer to. For this, we demonstrated / showed, not only the interrogative character that the educational philosophy assumes towards the world, the reality and the things (it begins when things stop being evident / obvious), as well as the nature of its total and radical questioning that tries to go to the ultimate beginning of everything by asking itself necessarily about the aims / purposes of education. At last, we came to the conclusion that the educational philosophy asks / calls, not only for a knowledge or learning, but also for a knowing how to be, through knowledge, fundamental to the educational phenomena that ethics, inter-culturalism, citizenship and democracy, are examples of / make up examples of.
